Cannot afford players

I've started a new game, and no matter what i get the message "Carlisle Unitad cannot afford the player". Even though my transfer balance ig 51K and the price for the player is 34K i get the message!

I'm on the bottom of the league...meaning that my reputation is bad...and the moral of the team is awful. I've read some where else on this site that reputation means something if you wanna buy a player.... But as i said, the message i get is that i cannot afford the player.....how come? :cry:

The value of the player is 34k but not his price. If it's a player who has a high reputation in his team (important first team player) it's possible that the club asks for much more than the real value of 34k.

(For fun you can try to buy a player of a similar value who hasn't played many games in the season who is less important for the club...)
